Billetworkz Short Throw Shifter Kit – Subaru WRX 2015–2025 / Crosstrek 2018+

Everything I received from Billetworkz was made of high quality and fit like it was supposed too. The install of the short shifter and shift plate was a pain, but that’s not Billetworkz fault. Once everything was installed completely changed the feel of the gear box.

However .. side note the transmission shift plate has a roll pin inside a roll pin 🤣

I initially installed the Billetworkz shifter plate onto my 2022 Subaru and added the shifter stop to the factory OEM shifter rod. It was a noticeable improvement over the standard stock shifter. After I got used to it though, I found that it still felt a little 'soft' and decided to the have the short throw shifter installed. I'm glad I did... the shift is night and day compared to the OEM shifter. The only difference is how low the STS feels compared to the stock shifter. Once you get used to the lower shifting position, it just feels normal. I had initially used the 2" extension on top of the STS shifter, but felt it was pretty similar to the OEM shifter with Billetworkz shifter plate. Since I preferred the feel of the complete STS shifter kit, I decided to remove the 2" extension. Without the extension, the STS kit has a noticeable notchy, firm shift. All in all, the STS kit is a must have add on for your vehicle. It really improves the feel of the transmission with smooth, distinct shifts that are not sloppy. Quality is better than expected with superior workmanship and the best customer support in the industry. Highly recommend, A++

That’s me with my car. I can’t drive a WRX, and I sure can’t afford an STI, so why did I buy this? Let me explain.

I’m an amateur prophylactics user and a mid tier father at best, and when the wife told me it was time to upgrade dad cars I readily agreed. Her suggestion was a minivan. I countered with divorce.

We settled on a 2012 Subaru Legacy GT.

The car was perfect in every way. Low miles, already Cobb tuned, Brembo swapped, nice coil overs, everything a cool daily dad mobile and weekend racer could want. At least until I grabbed the shifter…

I have felt shorter shift throws on semi trucks. The factory shifter had to go, and no OEM replacement could be found. Hours of research, beard scratching, and numerous vape clouds later I arrived here at my solution.

Since install, my car finally feels like it wants to get to a gear rather than the proximity of something similar to the location of whatever might accidentally be construed as a gear, and it has made all the difference in the world.

Thanks Billetworkz. You didn’t mean to, but you fixed a problem you didn’t even know existed in a car you never intended to help.

Transforms the feel of the car! Installation wasn’t hard whatsoever just make sure to have a punch set.
Super notchy which isn’t everyones cup of tea but it is mine.

Installing this was a bit of a pain but completely worth it!!! I love how much it shortens and stiffens every so I’m so glad I got this and highly recommend this mod as it makes driving so much more enjoyable!!

The short throw shifter is amazing and really tightened everything up. Night and day difference over oem. The shorter throws make the driving experience significantly better. Shift stop really makes first and second gear feel the way they should. Couldn’t be happier with this kit, and install is a lot easier than it looks

Install was a bit tricky but very much doable. Shifts are super short and the height of the shifter dropped exactly how I wanted it to. Need to add a little more effort when shifting gears but I still highly recommend

it was way more of a project then I expected the install video provided is extremely helpful! it was very tedious. but many hours later and done it shifts like a dream. the car drives way smoother and the shifts feel way better 🙌

This is exactly what I was looking for in a short shift kit. High quality, looks sharp, shifts exactly how I wanted. Installation isn’t difficult, just tedious. Highly recommend to anyone that is looking for a quality shift kit for their WRX.

Shifter kit is well made. Cleaned up half the slop and throw as advertised. 🔧🔧🔧 /10 on difficulty. A lot of steps as excepted. I did not have a lift and it would have made everything a little bit easier 😅.
Conclusion: would buy again. Find a friend with a lift. Take pictures of cable orientation. Take pictures of the shifter assembly when you pull out the reverse lock out section where there is a tensioner spring. Not sure on correct terms but it will help when you have to put it back together.

Top notch parts quality. Shifting feels awesome now, AFTER a small modification to stop it from rubbing on the dust cover.

Be aware, you MAY have to trim the plastic clip on the end of the shift cable or hammer out the dust shield under the car to stop the two from rubbing. This isn’t a big deal, but it’s bot mentioned anywhere I’ve seen on Billetworkz’s site/instructions

Installed on 2019 WRX. Pretty smooth install, utilizing lift ramps. You'll appreciate all the work, once its done. Like others have said. Smoother shifts, way more confidence in getting in the correct gate. Gates feel tighter. The shift slop is gone. IMHO, worth the time & money as an initial upgrade. Safe Motoring!
