Billetworkz Short Shifter – Subaru WRX 2015–2025 / Crosstrek 2018+

Bought this Billetworkz STS to replace an existing aftermarket STS on my 2021 WRX. The throws are definitely shorter than the competition, especially when combined with the weighted shifter plate and shifter bushing. 10/10 highly recommend!

One thing to note is that the reverse lockout assembly has multiple O-rings. I'd recommend applying silicone grease to those O-rings and the areas they make contact with the shifter shaft. Then, use white lithium grease or similar on the pivot points only.

Originally added the STi STS but was looking for more. Picked up the BW and swapped it into my OEM shifter and love it. I had already swapped the bushing and added the shift stop. Love driving my WRX even more now. Install wasn't bad at all. Followed the install video and did shifter first then installed.

I’ve had the weighted shift knob, brass bushing, and shift stop for a few months now, which felt great, but this made it perfect. The weighted knob feels so much better with this. The throw is way shorter and the gears feel much closer together. Wish I would have done this when I upgraded the rest of it a long time ago.

I was worried that the throw experience would too short with a shift plate installed already but it's actually perfect. Install was super straightforward. with the right tools. Would be nice if height was adjustable as I actually didn't mind the stock height but perhaps its the physical length of the lever that also shortens the throw?

I’m clearly a fan of what they do over here at Billetworkz, all parts I’ve ordered have been top shelf quality, speedy service, and they look killer too. My stock shifter broke into 3 pieces at the central ball joint and as a technician, I can tell the quality difference between a stock shifter and the Billetworkz short shifter. The car feels way better than before, the throw between gears is noticeably shorter and is way less sloppy overall. The parts are quality and a clear upgrade over stock. Couldn’t be happier with the results & service.

Got the short throw shifter at wicked big meet. Install is mostly straightforward. The biggest hurdle I had was removing the final plastic housing that holds the oem shifter. But this is a problem with Subaru over tightening their bolts. Definitely recommend.

Install was a bit time consuming but totally worth it. Definitely recommend it!

First time installing something like this: shifter plate, bushing, short shifter, shift stop, knob/adapter, and e-brake button. A lot of it was easy and some of it was difficult and challenging. There is a wealth of resources for installing all of this and was fun to install, was able to do it all myself in 1 days time (2 half days). It dramatically improves the shifting and the weighted knob is a must! I messed up by not tightening the adapter and nut all the way when trying to get it aligned right, couldn't get it out but putting some blue loctite on and waiting a day fixed it for me. Take your time, watch lots of videos from billetworkz and others, and take some notes that will help you (even draw some pics) and it will help.

I initially thought the short shifter would be the hardest part but I actually had more issues with the shifter plate and bushing, the mount was sooo tight for me to take off and the bushings were surprising difficult to get out and in. The one bolt up top had me inventing new cuss words. Just make sure to get the right tools, had to ride bike a couple miles to get different punch set and also some fixed wrenches. Short shifter went pretty smooth for me as I was prepared with the right tools, familiar with videos, and had trusty notes. I love the blue reverse lockout and red shift knob! The shift stop took a lot of adjustments and testing as I am very picky, but this was by far the best mod that improved the slop in 1st and 2nd. The whole kit combined made it feel heavy and short, need to use a bit of muscle to shift but I feel so much more engaged in driving and love it!

I purchased the shift knob, short shifter, plate, stopper, and the metal bushing from Billetworkz. The combination makes shifting more enjoyable. Love them!!!

I just added this Billetworkz short shifter on my 20 WRX to my 20,000 miles set up (STI shifter (now replaced), Boomba Plate, Billetworkz 1000 g sledge knob, Perrin bushing, Perrin stop) and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT.

This short shifter make my new set up perfect for every situation of driving: stop and go traffic, NYC city driving, parkway cruising, getting on it, red line, aggressive shifting etc… much much better and easier.

I thought my previous set up with Boomba plate and STI shifter was great but man Billetworkz shifter make my previous set up feels not great. This is a much higher level upgrade. The way shifting feel is unreal amazing !!!

Super easy install and amazing craftsmanship! It arrived very fast and looks/feels perfect in my 22 WRX. It completely changed the way it felt and honestly it’s way better than the OEM short throw I had on my 2020 STI.

I installed the short shifter and the shifter plate. The tutorial video looks intimidating, but it’s really not a bad install. After installing the products, I instantly fell in love with it all. I 100% recommend this product paired with the shifter plate, shifter stop, and bushing.

I couldn’t be happier with the build quality and functionality of this shifter it puts all the others on the market to shame installation was a breeze this should be a factory option.
