Our STI One-Piece Reverse Lockout is the perfect accessory to add to your interior. Our Reverse Lockouts include two internal o-rings to minimize vibration and rattling. They also include a stainless steel set screw to hold in place, rather than a roll pin. This part is a direct replacement for the OEM reverse lockout and boot retainer. Each Reverse Lockout is custom anodized to provide a unique and scratch resistant layer.
Be sure to lubricate the o-rings for the reverse lockout to function properly.
Will only fit 6-Speed STI’s and some 6-Speed Legacy’s. Please contact us to confirm fitment.
I installed one on a stock OE short shifter, then move it to a Kartboy short shifter, the quality itself is very good- only minor gripes:
1)- on a stock style shifter you will experience sticking while pulling up- the OE shift arm has a step where the threads for the shift knob engage, and it will cause an occasional hangup- it has to do with the upper o-ring being slightly too high on the lockout.
This does not happen with a Kartboy- it's smooth. Use some sort of silicone grease (disc brake grease is great)
2)- I wish the piece came with the allen wrench- it's a itty-bitty metric size not commonly used on cars, couldn't find at the store either. PITA.
3)- the upper lip that is supposed to hold the shift boot down is slightly undersized, so the shift boot may want to slip upward, hitting where your fingers pull up.
The solution to this is prior to installing the console, pull the shift boot inside out, and zip-tie the top of the shift boot into the groove on the lockout it's supposed to stay in. Then install the console. It will never slip up again.
Little piece of jewelry that's always @🤚
Great product, does what it says. Very under looked but it makes the shifts sound soooo crisp compared to the stock reverse lockout. The pin is also wayyy nicer.
This is actually my second Billetworks reverse lockout for my ‘14 STi. I had a red one that I had in place with the stock weighted STi shift knob, but wanted to change colors to match a colored custom weighted shift knob that I also ordered from Billetworkz.
The lockout works great and was easy (again) to install. Definitely like the one piece design with integrated shift boot retainer, it’s an easier-to-install solution over the OEM two piece design, and has a better feel when using it as well IMO.
As long as you follow the installation guide and make sure never to have the pin/screw out of the reverse lockout cable when the shifter is NOT in reverse, you should have this thing installed in 15 minutes or less (less if you’ve already done it before). Also when removing your shift knob, be sure to hold the shifter stalk/shaft in place while turning the knob…you don’t want to accidentally spin the entire shaft around and unwittingly change either the height of your shifter, or accidentally start wrapping the reverse lockout cable around the shaft. You won’t be able to get the car in reverse if that happens (or if you drop the cable down under the car by removing the pin/screw when the shifter isn’t in reverse already). If you accidentally rotate the shifter shaft, just rotate it back the opposite direction and back into place. You’ll be able to tell how to line it back up with the reverse lockout removed, as you’ll be able to see the hole in the cable through the opening in the shifter shaft (you’ll want this visual anyway before dropping the reverse lockout over the top of the shifter, to help get things lined up with the car in reverse once you’ve slipped the lockout on).
Love the look and feel of the product, no issues with the order or the install. Thanks, Billetworkz!
A simple, but noticeable change to the interior! I really only wanted this to change the color from the OEM reverse lockout, but when installing and holding both the OEM and Billetworkz lockouts at the same time, you can literally FEEL the difference in the weight and durability of their product over the OEM one. The install video on the website was clear and straightforward and made install a breeze. Thanks for the quality products Billetworkz!
