My stock reverse lockout was starting to rattle at higher RPMs. I already had the hybrid know from Billetworkz so this was an easy choice. Simple install in about 10-15 minutes thanks to the Billetworkz YouTube tutorial. My only complaint is that it’s not available in brushed aluminum to match my knob, but the red still pops.

I installed one on a stock OE short shifter, then move it to a Kartboy short shifter, the quality itself is very good- only minor gripes:
1)- on a stock style shifter you will experience sticking while pulling up- the OE shift arm has a step where the threads for the shift knob engage, and it will cause an occasional hangup- it has to do with the upper o-ring being slightly too high on the lockout.
This does not happen with a Kartboy- it's smooth. Use some sort of silicone grease (disc brake grease is great)
2)- I wish the piece came with the allen wrench- it's a itty-bitty metric size not commonly used on cars, couldn't find at the store either. PITA.
3)- the upper lip that is supposed to hold the shift boot down is slightly undersized, so the shift boot may want to slip upward, hitting where your fingers pull up.
The solution to this is prior to installing the console, pull the shift boot inside out, and zip-tie the top of the shift boot into the groove on the lockout it's supposed to stay in. Then install the console. It will never slip up again.

This is actually my second Billetworks reverse lockout for my ‘14 STi. I had a red one that I had in place with the stock weighted STi shift knob, but wanted to change colors to match a colored custom weighted shift knob that I also ordered from Billetworkz.
The lockout works great and was easy (again) to install. Definitely like the one piece design with integrated shift boot retainer, it’s an easier-to-install solution over the OEM two piece design, and has a better feel when using it as well IMO.
As long as you follow the installation guide and make sure never to have the pin/screw out of the reverse lockout cable when the shifter is NOT in reverse, you should have this thing installed in 15 minutes or less (less if you’ve already done it before). Also when removing your shift knob, be sure to hold the shifter stalk/shaft in place while turning the knob…you don’t want to accidentally spin the entire shaft around and unwittingly change either the height of your shifter, or accidentally start wrapping the reverse lockout cable around the shaft. You won’t be able to get the car in reverse if that happens (or if you drop the cable down under the car by removing the pin/screw when the shifter isn’t in reverse already). If you accidentally rotate the shifter shaft, just rotate it back the opposite direction and back into place. You’ll be able to tell how to line it back up with the reverse lockout removed, as you’ll be able to see the hole in the cable through the opening in the shifter shaft (you’ll want this visual anyway before dropping the reverse lockout over the top of the shifter, to help get things lined up with the car in reverse once you’ve slipped the lockout on).
Love the look and feel of the product, no issues with the order or the install. Thanks, Billetworkz!

Rachel Moore A simple, but noticeable change to the interior! I really only wanted this to change the color from the OEM reverse lockout, but when installing and holding both the OEM and Billetworkz lockouts at the same time, you can literally FEEL the difference in the weight and durability of their product over the OEM one. The install video on the website was clear and straightforward and made install a breeze. Thanks for the quality products Billetworkz!

Domingo Montilla This was really easy to install, don't know who has had problems before but I didn't had a single issue, tutorial on installation was easy to follow, available on youtube.

d.m. So i got my reverse lockout and the hole was drilled/tapped crooked. They were prompt and helpful. Apologized and said they hadn't seen anything like this before. I know how these places make parts. So naturally I'm worried that it wasn't just a one off incident and they're gonna send me some retapped loose junk. I'm sad to say I was right. I am willing to bet they had a batch run and they're all crooked. They sent me one with a nasty loose thread hole that barely catches thread. That I had to wrap thread tape on to tighten up. I could've done that. I wanted the what should've been a well made part for the money I spent on this... I didn't give them a chance to fix it because I'm just over it. I already have a few weeks into trying to get this rattle fixed that's driving me crazy. Plus I got it to work ish. They get 2 stars because the customer service was great.

Customer After watching a video of the installation, I got it installed no problem. It looks fantastic by itself. However, the boot retainer is WAY too small. Way smaller than the stock boot retainer. The boot doesn't fit and is very loose. I'm not a big fan of that. You guys need to make the boot retainer bigger. Don't know why it isn't the correct size. I'm very tempted to ask for a refund and send it back. I purchased through DirtyRacingProducts.com, though. The picture doesn't show how loose it is but you can clearly see that the boot is not tight around the retainer. Bummer, dude.

Luis Rodriguez Here is connecting the previous review but with a picture. For people thinking to get a reverse lock out you will need lube to put on the shifter rod to help it slide do not take off the o rings in side there will be a little bit of play between the rod and the lock out use lube so it will slide up and down very nicely!

Jerame Biederman I had the Perrin reverse lockout and Kartboy short throw shifter and it wasn’t what I wanted so I upgraded to the Billetworkz reverse lockout and oh my goodness it is amazing! The feel and finish are absolutely amazing and it works perfectly! Highly recommend.

Another Car Guy The product looks great. I followed their instruction youtube video to install it. One suggestion, the product did not slide properly at first but I ended up removing the 2 O-rings inside and it worked perfectly fine. BTW The stock reverse lockout did not have any old ring. I highly suggest to buy a punch set and a hammer, makes the installation super easy. For the punch pin you need a 3/32"

Lori Harkins Absolutely buy products from Billetworkz. I love their work. Everything matches perfect and looks so good. Products are so well done.

Samar Preet Feels so much better and definitely looks better too but I wish my boot would sit snugged like it did with the oem one

Great fit and the pattern looks the same as on the website. Slight problems with sticking in the “up” position, but a simple fix.

Great upgrade from stock. Oem piece would rattle and vibrate the shifter. Made it feel like the trans was grinding. This piece is solid and exceeded my expectations with how quiet it is.

Looks great but sticks even after lubing both o-rings. Hoping it gets better with wear. The shift boot collar is a bit small as well.
J
Jason Tarasyuk Very nice product, I added a little grease to my o rings inside as it was dragging with the kart boy short shifter. I got this so I can run a 450g shift knob without any vibrational noises and it works very well. Satisfied with my purchase!

The reverse lockout was super easy to install, just watch the step by step instruction video and it’s a piece of cake. Only thing I’d say is even with lubing the o-rings inside the lockout, it still seems to stick a little. Hoping it gets better the more it’s used. But other than that, definitely looks a lot better than the factory one.

Caleb Wickers Great product, does what it says. Very under looked but it makes the shifts sound soooo crisp compared to the stock reverse lockout. The pin is also wayyy nicer.
