Billetworkz Short Shifter – Subaru BRZ / FR-S / GT86 2013–2021

As if my 86 wasn't fun to drive already, the short shifter + weighted knob combo has made it more so. Each shift is crisp and precise and makes me excited every time I go for a drive.

Went in easy feels nice and looks nice couldn’t be happier.

Installed myself, moderate difficulty, car did not need to be raised. Works great, perfect for street use. Been using it for 2 weeks now and no complaints

I bought the Billetworkz short shifter for a 2015 BRZ. The product came very fast and using the YouTube Billetworkz how to video the installation was so simple. Whole process took 30min. The shifter worked great ! The short throws made a huge difference. Highly recommended the the product and the company.

the short shifter feels great in my BRZ. I covered pretty much every connecting surface (bushings, linkage, etc) with grease while installing, and I'm not noticing vibration or buzzing. I did note some vibration when driving on the Autobahn above 180kph, but I also noteiced vibration at high speed with the regular shifter. Mine is coupled with weighted knob, and the shift feel is smooth and precise. Very happy.

Great quality & easy install.

I've had my BRZ for a year and a half and I wish I installed this short shifter much sooner! It's a huge quality of life upgrade. I'm new to working on cars and it's absolutely doable for a novice. Highly recommend ordering an OEM shift linkage boot as well, once I got to that stage mine was ripped. It was about $18 from Subaru.

This short shifter has been an absolute game changer and it's a pleasure to drive even in traffic! Super happy!

Feels good, but rattles at high rpm

install was pretty smooth until the very end, when i was attempting to install the linkage pin with the included washer for almost an hour before giving up and using the oem one. I realized that the included washer is too thick and does not allow for the pin to go through the hole and lock the linkage together

2020 toyota 86. Easy install, looks good, didn't really change the throw dynamic all that much. A bit clunkier, no noticeably shorter shifts. Still a fun part to install, would be a good experience for a kid getting into personalizing their car.

Honestly, this makes my frs's shifter feel so much better, notchy and the throw is much better, I love it

It took a while for me to choose a shifter because I kept reading about aftermarket ones having a rattle but I have actually only heard the rattle once or twice within the first two days of having it. After that, I guess the grease hit all the right spots and it hasn’t rattled since. The throw is great and it also feels a bit more notchy than the stock one. I opted to get the weighted knob they sell as well with the shifter and it feels great! Just make sure to order some grease when you buy this and you’ll be all set!

Really easy to instal and has a great throw distance, very happy with the product

Ordered this shifter in blue and received a black one. Contacted customer service and they had me take a picture of the incorrect shifter I received, I did. I was sent a return shipping label to which I would need to print and take to a post office. I don’t have a printer and they pretty much to me to figure it out. I didn’t want to deal with them anymore and I didn’t want to wait the time it takes to send it back, processing, and the shipping time it takes for the new one so I just kept it. Shifter however was easy to install and does have a sharper/swifter/noticeable shorter throw. I recommend getting this shifter but cross your fingers you get the one you ordered.

I bought and installed this shifter in my 2014 GT86 GT-model, easy to install, but had a slight rattle from the reverse lockout first time driving, but after giving it some extra grease it only rattles above 6k rpm. as my old stock shifter did.
It is the best shifter I have had and I really enjoy the shifters shorter throw. Also going for all black in the car so the matte black fits perfectly and looks like the OEM.
Would definerly recomend this over stock.
(Would have given it 5 stars if it fixed the above 6k rpm. rattle.)

I had bought the billetworkz custom shift knob for my car and needed a short shifter and since I was in love with the shift knob I knew when I saw billetworkz made one I definitely knew I would go with that short shifter!

Doesn’t take long to install. Definitely feel a shorter more crisp throw. Their install video is very helpful and straight to the point.

I have never order a car part and had some of the best customer service in my life. Quick responses on all my questions and very informative install videos to help.

I broke my Billetworkz shifter basically right out of the box because I got my aftermarket shift knob stuck on there and was an idiot trying to get it off, and when I emailed about this they had no problem fixing it. I got it back and everything works perfectly now. The shifts are so short, smooth, and the shifter isn't loose so you get clean hard shift without any play.
